WELL DONE REBECCA, ANAND & BRANDON

Well done to Rebecca Johnson, Anand Patel & Brandon Garrett who represented the Isle of Man at the prestigious Commonwealth Youth Games 2011.

This event was well attended by most Commonwealth Countries who are registered with the Federation of International Gymnastics.
Against a field of some of the best up and coming gymnasts in the world - some we might see at World Championships and perhaps even the Olympic Games one day, we can feel very proud of our gymnasts.

CLUB PRIZEGIVNG & DISPLAY EVENING

Just a reminder that the annual Club PrizeGiving and Displays will be held at the gym this Saturday evening, 23rd July from 5.30pm - 8.00pm

The cafe will be open and selling hot-dogs and pasties as well as sweets and cold drinks. 
Milano leotards will be selling leotards & other goods - they will be at gym from 9:30am to 6pm on Saturday and from 7:30pm on Friday;
There will be a raffle and a 'roll-the-coin' competition (£1 each entry) with exciting prizes on offer.

We hope to see everyone there !

 

WELL DONE TO GRACE & ADAM IN JERSEY

Well done to Grace Harrison & Adam Hedges who both won Overall Medals for the Women's & Men's FIG Competitions in Jersey (Inter Island Games 2011) Adam also won the Set competition, with Grace placing second in her equivalent event.

GYMTIME ON EVERYDAY 1st - 19th AUGUST

Manx Gymnastics will be open for GYMTIME sessions for 3 weeks during the summer holidays.

Sessions will run from 9.30 am - 12 noon, each weekday from Monday 1st August - Friday 19th.
The cost is £4 per child under 7, with £3 per sibling thereafter.

Come along and have some fun with your children / grandchildren / nieces and nephews this summer.

MGC GYMNASTS NAMED FOR IOM CYG TEAM

We are proud to announce that three of our gymnasts have been selected to represent the Isle of Man in the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games to be held on the island during September.

Very special congratulations to REBECCA JOHNSON, ANAND PATEL & BRANDON GARRETT for being selected to represent their country at such a prestigious event.

These gymnasts were named tonight, at a team announcement function for all IOM team members across the seven sports being contested at the Games.

Well done also to HOLLY BLACK, who is the women's reserve gymnast, and GENNADY TSYGANOV who is the Men's coach.

BRANDON WINS RINGS AT PEGASUS OPEN

Congratulations to Brandon Garrett who travelled to Kent and competed in the 'Junior' section at the Pegasus Open Competition on the 18th June.

He scored very well on Rings with a score of 11.70 winning him a gold medal on this apparatus. He placed 3rd on floor with a 12.30, ending the competition placed 5th overall with a total of 58.550.

MCGE AT GREATER MANCHESTER OPEN

Congratulations to the following Manx Gymnasts who won medals at the Greater Manchester Open:

Chloe Donnelly won vaulting in the Regional Level 4 Junior section with a score of 11.60 out of a field of 30 gymnasts. She placed 17th overall.
Nicole Burns also did herself and the club proud by placing 2nd overall in the Modified FIG section. She also won Vault, placed 2nd on Beam & 3rd on Floor. Well done Nicole !!
Holly Black & Aoife Donnelly competed in the Junior FIG competition and performed very well. Well done to you all.

MGCE GYMNASTS AT SETWORK FINALS

A special congratulations to Callum Kewley who competed at the Boys National Set Work Finals in Birmingham recently. He placed 10th overall in Level 2 !! He has been invited to a training camp at the Lilleshall Centre of Gymnastics in late June.
This is a fantastic achievement - well done Callum, as well as his coaches Gennady and Tatiana !

Joshua Morrison (Level 1) & placed top of the Manx boys with a 57.05 total, and Aaron Dougherty close behind with 56.80. Connor Esp (Level 2) finished with a very good total of 60.4. Alex Warrilow scored 52.95.

Well done to all 5 of our boys !

MGCE GYMNASTS TO COMPETE IN JERSEY

Congratulations to Isabel Hester & Radha Patel who have officially been selected to compete at the alternative Island Games competition to be held in Jersey during July 2011. They will both be competing in the 2 piece, 4 piece & FIG competitions.

Grace Harrison & Nicole Burns have  also been selected as part of the Senior team. 3 more places are available in this team for the balance of the 3 CYG triallists, and a further trial will be held to ascertain which competition phases each gymnast will compete in.

The BOYS TEAMS will be added here as soon as they are received as ratified...

IOM HOSTS INTERNATIONAL INVITATIONAL

A WAG International Invitational event will be held at Manx Gymnastics on Saturday 7th May. This competition is intended as a preparation event, in the lead up to the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games which will be held (again, at our gym) on the island in September.

Isle of Man have two teams, randomly drawn - the 'Red ' team (Tara Donnelly & Rebecca Johnson with EV's Kaitlin Kneen) & the 'Black' team (Ciara Goddard, Aoife Donnelly, Holly Black (pending fitness) with EV's Emily Dale-Beeton)
They will compete against girls from Scotland, Malta and England who will no doubt also be using the competition as practice before CWYG.
